Our best recommendation

OVOX R8

The OVOX R8 robot efficiently cleaned different sorts of dirt from various surfaces. True, in order to clean dirty surfaces, the cleaning cycle of the OVOX robot, like the others tested, had to be repeated at least a couple of times. OVOX effectively coped with even very dirty windows.

Two-Way Smart Spraying

The OVOX R8 window cleaning robot uses a dual-nozzle water spray system to evenly distribute cleaning solution, allowing the microfiber cloth to remove dirt efficiently. It sprays and wipes in one motion, delivering faster and more effective results than many other models.

Simulated Manual Wiping

The robot mimics the motion of a human hand, moving with just the right pressure and rhythm to tackle even stubborn stains. During testing, it managed to remove smudges and dried-on spots that many other models left behind.

Although the robot is not controlled via an app, this might seem like a drawback at first. However, after extended testing, we found that remote control operation is actually more practical. Every window-cleaning robot requires at least some user interaction—such as placing it on the window or changing the cloths—and none of that needs an app. In fact, when your hands are wet or you’re multitasking, using a simple remote is far easier than navigating a smartphone screen.

Ovox operates while plugged into a power outlet, but at just 1.5 kg, it’s noticeably lighter than many other models. A top-mounted handle and clearly visible power button make setup and activation easy and intuitive.

Robot testing

Window cleaning from the outside

We tested the cleaning efficiency of the robot by cleaning windows from the outside, which have old dirt and various stains. To clean these windows we had to repeat the robot program several times and change the cloths. This is common practice when cleaning dirtier surfaces with a robotic window cleaner.

Cleaning of glass office partitions

The robot effectively cleaned fingerprints, dust, and other dirt. The robot moved smoothly, went around the entire area, and returned to the starting point after completing the program.

HUTT W8

The Hutt W8 is a robot designed for cleaning windows. It has a spray system and comes with a transport bag, 3 quality cloths, and other accessories. The mops have longer bristles and are wider, enabling them to clean a larger surface at once. Additionally, this robot has a system of two water nozzles – one on each side – that adapts to the cleaning side. When cleaning downwards, it sprays only with the lower nozzle, and when cleaning sideways, it sprays with the side nozzle.

Transport bag

The robot comes with a convenient, sturdy transport bag, in which the robot can be conveniently stored at home or transported to another place.

It took longer to launch

Starting to use this robot can be quite complicated. After attaching itself to the window and initiating the cleaning program, it began cleaning after about a minute. However, during the cleaning process, it frequently stopped, requiring us to restart the program. Similarly, the spray mode would only activate after a certain delay, rather than immediately after pressing the remote control. Additionally, there was a noticeable delay in the robot's response to button presses.

The robot comes with voice messages and can be controlled via a remote control. Although the voice messages are clear, the robot itself is quite loud. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of its mops, but unfortunately, the cleaning performance was disappointing. The robot kept getting stuck and we had to restart the cleaning program and repeat instructions with the remote control. Additionally, it could not reach the entire window area, especially the edges, and sometimes it just rotated in one place. Even after several cleaning cycles, streaks remained.

ECOVACS W2 OMNI

The Ecovacs W2 OMNI Pro window cleaning robot is a very popular choice. This robot works well, moves smoothly on the surface, reaches the entire area of the window, comes close enough to the edges and sides of the window, and does not crash into the frame. The robot firmly attaches itself to the surface. It also has a water spray system that helps clean the window more efficiently. The robot is controlled by an app and has sound signals.

The robot is controlled by an app and has sound signals. At first, we had a bit of trouble trying to connect to the app, but once connected, the app was very responsive and performed the actions we wanted. We found that this robot is quite loud compared to other models, so it can be difficult to clearly hear and understand its voice programs and signals.

Smooth movement

The ECOVACS W2 OMNI window cleaning robot surprised us with its smooth movement. The robot went around the entire area of the window, reached the corners and edges of the window, and also returned to its original position after the cleaning program.

Suction is too strong

The 5500 Pa suction creates strong firm grip on the glass, which improves stability but also increases resistance, leading to slower movement and longer cleaning times—especially on large surfaces. The strong suction presses the cloth too tightly against the glass, often leaving streaks and making it harder to clean older or stubborn dirt effectively.

Mamibot W200

Mamibot W200 wireless window cleaning robot – after unpacking it turned out to be high-quality, made of strong materials, and easy to hold. Although a bit larger and heavier than other models, it quickly and firmly attached to the window. This robot is rechargeable and wireless. Its safety rope has an unconventional shape, instead of the usual carabiner attachment, it is a round plastic part that needs to be attached to the surface to be cleaned. This robot is controlled by a remote control, it can easily change direction and program. The cloths absorb moisture well, after several cleanings the robot cleaned the dirt well enough.

Wireless

The uniqueness of this robot is that it is rechargeable and does not require a power outlet in a convenient place for its operation. This is very convenient if you want to clean windows in places where there is no electricity supply, you don't like long robot cables (they can interfere with flowers, curtains or other objects in the room near the cleaned surfaces). You can use a safety rope for extra security.

Does not have a water spray system

This robot may move smoothly and quickly on the surface, but to achieve high-quality window cleaning, you will need to spray the window with cleaning liquid yourself. Additionally, it's important to moisten the cloth before cleaning, as cleaning with a dry cloth may result in a worse outcome compared to using window robots equipped with a spray system.

HUTT C65

The robot’s water spraying system was disappointing – although the liquid was sprayed evenly during cleaning, after removing the robot from the window, water began to drip through the gaps. Although the robot moves smoothly through the window, it can reach the edges, but we noticed that it leaves round, cloth-shaped sections when cleaning in places. It also emits an audible signal when cleaning the edge of the surface, which can annoy householders.

Did not return to the starting point

This part is very important for a quality window robot. We attached the robot and turned it on in one place, but after finishing the program, it stopped in another. If it had stopped high, at the top of the window, it would have been difficult to remove it.

Well, another important detail is the control of the robot. The robot can be controlled by a remote control or an app. It took some time to install the app on the smartphone. In the first attempt, the robot could not be connected, it was difficult to “catch” the Bluetooth signal, but after connecting, the robot worked smoothly. Also, automatic control of the robot with arrows did not work, so if the robot ends the program at the top of the window, it can be difficult to remove it.

HOBOT-2S

We decided to test the HOBOT 2S window-cleaning robot as it is sold by a well-known brand and has received many positive reviews on Amazon and other sites. Our experience with it aligns with the positive reviews – the robot has a compact and convenient design, high-quality cloths that cover a large surface area for efficient cleaning. The robot also features two nozzles for cleaning liquid that continuously spray window liquid or water, making it highly effective at cleaning surfaces.

Speed

This robotic window cleaner can clean a square meter of surface in just 2.4 minutes, making it faster than other square window robots.

Stops during cleaning

During one cleaning session, the robot got stuck at the top of the window. It is possible that it ran out of water in the system or the surface was too wet. Despite returning to its original position after completing the program, the robot did not respond to the remote control and the app. It made voice messages but it was impossible to remove it without climbing higher and taking it out manually. This situation can create problems when cleaning high windows since it can be difficult to remove the robot without the help of additional tools, such as a ladder.

The HOBOT S2 window cleaning robot can be controlled either through a remote control or an app. However, our experience of connecting the app was complicated and confusing as it required pairing codes. After finally managing to connect the app, we faced issues with the remote control as it didn’t work properly. We were unable to adjust the robot’s position to point it downwards or toward other directions with the remote control. Therefore, we recommend using the robot with the remote control only.
